Overheard

So no one wants to get up tomorrow morning, so maybe this will get people to start their day off, by potentially getting to over hear something like this that I did on the weekend.

"Do you want to chafe my nipples so we're even?"

Doctor's Errors

If you or someone you know get diagnosed with breast cancer, getting your breasts removed (a mastectomy) would be a welcome but difficult surgery. Your breasts would be gone, but so would your cancer! But for at least two (five more under investigation) women their biopsy reports were misread and their breasts were removed by Dr. Heartwell of Hotel-Dieu Grace Hospital in Windsor when they really didn't have any cancer at all. This goes to show that people are not perfect, and even a doctor with 28 years of experience can make errors. The doctor has admitted that, "It is my fault that this happened, not the hospital's, this is my mistake". What an awful thing to live with. It's hard to say if it could of been avoided or not because we don't know the whole story. We don't know how it was misread, and if maybe another doctor took a look at it he/she would have seen the results for what they really were. Dr. Heartwell and the pathologist are both under investigation and in the mean time have been suspended from practicing medicine.

Dress of the Week

Stunning Anna Paquin(Sookie!!) was really glowing at the Costume Designer's Guild Awards. My favourite dress of the week was worn by her, a mini dress with Swarovski crystals by Marios Schwab. Gorgeous!

Killer Whale (pun intended)

The awful death of a Killer Whale trainer at Seaworld in the States isn't all the whale's fault. The reason for the trainer being dragged into the water by the whale was because her long ponytail was dangling in the water. The whale then thought it was a toy and pulled her into the water. It's a tragedy when such an awful thing could of been avoided!

Top Ten Albums

So on my blog I'm going to do weekly new release album reviews, and reviews of some of my all time favourites! Frankmusik's debut album, Complete Me shows an amazing amount of how much Vincent Frank really knows about what he wants to get across. His music style is original and instantly recognisable once you get to know it. The comfortable niche that he has made for himself is a vibrant world in which love hurts and heals. His lyrics come to life with synth baselines and catchy tunes. Some people may find his songs annoying, but listen with an open mind and the goal to enjoy because the album has the potential to lighten days and brighten moods.

What I'm Wearing This Winter

Being in Canada, it's mandatory to dress warm so I would like to introduce the snood, part scarf, part hood!
A super easy knitting project I'd tell everyone to make themselves one. So try it out!!

Surgery of the week!

Angioplasty : A procedure to restore blood flow to arteries after being blocked by a sticky material called plaque. The surgeon threads a thin tube through a blood vessel then into the targeted artery. A tiny balloon at the end gets inflated to push the plaque towards the walls of the artery which widens and restores the blood flow.

Joannie

Knowing what she knows now, everything is different. It used to be simple, quite simple actually. Practice, perform, enjoy yourself and repeat. She definitely loved skating, loved that routine and felt safe in it. Her family was proud no matter what she did and never felt the pressure that they wouldn’t be happy with what she has accomplished. Knowing now, she ties up her skates with dread of the future without her inspiration, dread of not having her watching her performance with excited eyes. With shaking hands she finishes the final knot and stands up on wobbling legs shuffling towards the ice. This practice was different, more different then she could ever imagine. What she feels is sadness, but that wasn’t the over whelming part. She is overcome with a sudden drive and determination to do this for her, not for herself, but for her. She has to prove that she is a strong young woman in the face of adversity and trauma, not for herself but for her. She had to show the world the woman that has become, because of her, in dedication to her. With a new outlook she was ready to face the world.

Introducing Winter Kate

My new fashion find, Nicole Richie's new line titled Winter Kate, the middle names of her daughter Harlow.
By looking at the clothes you can tell right away that they're by Nicole Richie, they have her signature hippie-girly style. Full of flowy and floral pieces the collection gives off a soft look, ideal for women who want to appear feminine but contemporary. Drawing inspiration from majestic birds like the peacock and including fabrics like silk, chiffon and crepe it's hard not to love her debut clothing line. In contrast to the soft fabrics, she also provides harder pieces, like a leather jacket perfect for creating an original look. Available February 2010 in stores in the states like Saks, Kitson and Bloomingdale's. 35$-600$.

Vampire Weekend = Perfection

My recent favourite band, Vampire Weekend came out with so far my favourite album of the year; Contra. I'd recommend it to absolutely everyone, and I usually do!
Recently released video for "Giving Up the Gun" is chalked full of celebrity cameos including Jake Gyllenhaal, Joe Jonas, Lil Jon who show off their tennis moves in the original video.
A perfect video to go with a breath taking song by an incredible band.
Check it out!

Olympic Fever

I know I've caught it, but has the rest of the world? With all of the smack being talked about how Vancouver's handling the enormous responsibility it's hard to know what to believe or think. With the shocking death of Nodar Kumaritashvili the olympics didn't get off to such a great start. The death shouldn't of happened and could of been avoided from the speed, the exposed post, the sharp turns and even the athlete's experience. Opening ceremonies were great even with the faults, but what really impacted me was the reception to Georgia. The whole stadium showed respect which really says a lot about what kind of people are out there, and the beauty of the human spirit. The world was united for that 20 seconds and it was a glimpse of finally how it should be. I don't want to speak too fast, but I will label Alex Bilodeau's gold medal win for Canada as the most memorable moment of the games. With Canada's first gold medal on home soil, it was a milestone but that wasn't even the start of it. The joy was apparent from the crowd even from where I was watching on my couch and the accomplishment of one man was the accomplishment of the whole country. But what was even more beautiful was the smile on his brother Frédéric's face. You could tell that he was the most proud brother in the world and how much love they had for each other solely by their after win hug. The entire nation shared in their moment and that was better than any medal at all.

Lamb Versus Lion

Who would think that a lamb would beat a lion? Being humans, we associate the bigger and more powerful animal as being the dominant one. But what if we thought about it? And I mean actually thought about it?
With lambs having a strong gregarious instinct, their chances of survival are much greater.
With let's say, 40 lambs in a flock, any approaching lion would be easily seen quickly and effortlessly.
I'm not going to kid myself and say that a lion couldn't catch a lamb because that would make me delusional but so what? The lion would catch the weakest lamb, making the flock even stronger.
I would like to also point out the awful stamina of lions, making the job of the lambs to stay alive even easier.
And over all, they're just a whole lot cuter!
